There was a largo attendance of the public at the volunteer inspection by Colonel For t in expectation. c of some severe stricburesj bub they were agreeably disappointed, Hj complimented the Rifles on the cleanliness of their uniforms and accoutrements, andtheir appearance generally ; bub said they \ were deficient in drill, owing to want) oi proper training. , No good work, be said, could be expected from them under bha. existing system of instruction.' Of theArtillery ho was more complimentary, euiogising their appearance, both of tha ~ men and guns, end the careful instruction given by the officers of the battery. *
