SPIRITUALISTIC EXPOSURE.
SENSATION AT A SYDNEY SEANCE,
CAPTURE OF A MATERIALISED
SPIRIT,
A STRANGE EXPLANATION
Sydney, this day. For some time pasb a sensation has been caused by spiritualistic seances couducbed under the mediumship of Mrs Mellon, and tbe position occupied by those investigating seemed to place the matter beyond intention to deceive. Two gentlemen bave made a statutory declaration thab at a materialisation seance ab Mrs Mellon's house they captured the materialised form of a little girl, which was merely Mrs Mellon on her knees. They also found articles within a recess which were recognised as forming part of the attire of other materialised spirits. The discovery is creating a sensation.
On the other hand, Dr. McCarthy, under whoso eye previous seances had been conducted, ana who waa not present at the discovery, despite ib does nob believe the manifestations he obtained were the result of fraud. If they ware, theti, he says, Mrs Mellon is the greatest conjuror ho ever saw.
Mrs Mellon gives an extraordinary explanation of how she was found to be in the place of a disembodied spirit, and says the latter drew its matter from tho medium, and gave as an instance that her weight diminished by half on such occasions, which Bbc declared had been proved by experiment. When the charm waa broken by capture the spirit fled, leaving an attenuated medium.
