To the Editor Auckland Stab : Sir,—While the Seddon Government have passed the above Bill and made it possible lor farmers to get cheap money, they still pay, in many instances, by far too much for nearly everything they have to purchase, and we have, therefore, determined so far as the settlers in the neighbourhood of Kamo and Whangarei are concerned, to put an end to this sort of thing by offering to supply them from our store at Kamo all goods at Auckland retail prices. We havo now in stock a great assortment of groceries of almost every kind, all fresh, new and good. Also brushes, brooms, buckets, milk pans, kits, stationery, oatmeal, biscuits, lollies, jams, sardines, knives and forks*soap, soda, starch and blue, axe handles, butter and clothes baskets, pipes, tobacco and matches, besides a large and useful assortment of other things. Now we do not intend to offer these goods at less than cost price. Wo cannot afford to do so. but we do offer them all at Auckland retail prices, and we challenge anyone to obtain goods of the sarao quality from any respectable retail house in Auckland at less than we can supply them at Kamo. and for buying from us you save all the risks and carriage. No doubt, many will wonder how we can do this. Well, the whole thing is in a nutshell. We have no expensive establishment to keep up. Nearly all our work is done by members of our own family. We have no bank overdraft, and we do not buy on bills. And, Mr Editor, we would ask you kindly to explain that having been born and roared on a farm, our education has been limited to a sixth standard pass, and we therefore are quite ignorant of the art of bookkeeping in either single or double entry. For this and various other reasons which delicacy forbids us to mention here we must have cash for all goods sold unless special arrangements are made. When given upon trust extra will be charged to enable us to pay the cost of an expert bookkeeper. Any goods not in sto«k will be forwarded to order by first steamer leaving Auckland after order is left at our store. While many are leaving for Coolgardie we intend to stay in Kamo, and Avhen the owner of our present premises ha 3 made up his mind to sell at a fair value, we intend to purchase the freehold, and make such alterations and improvements as will enable us to carry on what we believe and intend to make it—a large and fairly profitable business.
