NEWCASTLE COAL TRADE.

Sydney, October 16.

The closing of pits at Newcastle is due to failing trade, and also to the Victorian Government largely cutting down orders for coal. Owners state if the Coal Mine Regulation1 Bill-passed in its present form, it will necessitate the closing of most of the pits. It is expected that Lambton or Burwood Colliery will shortly close. ;
