PONSONBY POPULAR CONCERT.
The socond of the series of Ponsonby Popular Concerts, under the management of Mr Leslie Dix, was given last evening in the foneonby Hall, to a crowded house. The opening piece, " March Libua," was rendered nicely by the Septette Orchestra, who also gave a selection entitled " Floretta," with precision. Air R. Burch sang " Best of All " and "England of Today," and created a very favourable impression. Miss Lizzie Warren, who, as usual, was well received, sang "II J^ acio " and " The Carnival," to the former of which she supplemented as an encore " Killarney," the success of fche evening. Mr Horace Stebbing contributed "Around the Camp Fire,'' and as an encore, "The Irish Emigrant," boDb being artistically rendered. He also took part with Miss Warren in the favonrite duet "In the Dusk of the Twilight," which was encored. The two item 3by Miss Katie Fitzpatrick, "Alone on the Raft " and " Maggie's Secret" were very successful, and in the fireb caee " Banbury Cross" was rendered as an encore. The duet " Larboard Watch," by Messrs P. P.. Dix and Reg. Burch, was a capital item, the two voices blending exceedingly well. Mr Leslie Dix was most successful in "School Competition" and "Jericho," these being, according to the applause given, about the most appreciated items of the evening. The talented pianiste, Miss Clarice Brabazon, who accompanied during the eveniog, gave a pianoforte ,solo " The Sleigh Ride to Moscow " with bell effects, which was recognised by all to be a genuine musical treat.
