CRICKET.

The ninth annual 'meeting of the Wanderers' Cricket Club was hold on Sept. 19. Mr C. WaddiDgham was voted to tho chair. The following officers were elected: —Mr J. J. Holland, Prezident; Messrs G. Fowler and Collins, Vice-Presi-dents ; H. Thomaa, captain ; T. Mills, vice-captain; S. Mills, Secretary: C. Waddingham, delegate; H. Thomas, T. Mills and C. Waddingham, Selection Committee. The Secretary's reporb showed thab the Club had again won the Firsb Junior Cup, and bad also a balance in hand of £2 Is 2d.

A" meeting of the Newton Cricket Club was held in the Newton Congregational Sunday-school on Sept. 24, a large number of members and intending members being preeenb. The following gentlemen were elected to office for euauing year : — President, Mr G. Court; Vice-Presidents, Messrs McKerras, McLean, Wood, E. Sexton, Nickelson ; Captain, A. Rowe (re-elected); Vicecaptain, L. Hoyes (re-electod); Treasurer, Mr Winn ; Secretary, Mr H. Hounsell. During the meeting Mr Holden was presented with a silver medal, given by Mr McLean for the most catches for the season.

The 33rd annual meabing of the United Cricket Club was held on Sepb. 12 in the Club-room of the British Hotel, Mr C. S. McKinney presiding. Mr C. E. MeCormick, Secretary, submitted the annual report. The balance - sheet showed a credit balance of £1 15s sd. The following officers were elected for bhe ensuing year : President, Mr A. E. Wbitaker; VicePresidents, Messrs H. Rees George, G. Court, C. S. H. McKinney, L. Ehrenfried, and Captain Lambert; Honorary Secretary, Mr C. E. MaeCormick ; Treasurer, Mr Carlbon Hay. Committee, Messrs Yates, Stemgon, Harvie, S. McPherson, and Gunthorpe; DolegaDes, Mesera MacCormick and Stemson. Mr C. E. MacCormick was re-elected Captain.

The annual meeting of the North Shore Cricket Club was held on Tuesday night, September 18th, and was largely attended. The total receipts for the year amounted to £66 la sd, and the expenditure to £71 6s Bd, leaving a debit balance of £5 3a 3d, but when it is considered that the sum of £44 11s was spent upon improving the ground, the figures must prove more than Batislactory, especially as this small nmount of £b 8s is tho only outstanding liability. The twelfth annual meeting of the Auckland Cricket Association was hold in the British Hotel on Sept. 28, when Mr Jas. Russell, President of the Association, occupied the chair. About forty cricketers wore present. The annual report, as read by the Socrotary, Mr C. S. H. McKinnßy, congratulated the Association on the results of last season. iAn intercolonial match was played with ; Mow South Wales, resulting in a win for the Cornstalks. After a long absence Wellington paid us a visit, but in consoquonce of tho bad weather the match in which public much interest was takon, had to ba discontinued, thu? resulting in a draw. A tour of the Southern provinces resulted in Auckland winning two matches and losing one, which may be considered highly satisfactory. The senior championship was won after a vary close contest by bho evergreen Gordon Club, who cleverly won the coveted honours. The first junior and second junior championships Here respectively won by the Wanderers CC. and Norbhern .Roller Mills CC. Some correspondence has taken place between representatives of the English team and your Association, but as your Committee thinks the amount required from New Zealand, viz., £1,200, is excessive, a visit cannot be anticipated. Visits are, however, expected from Queensland, Fiji, Otago and Canterbury, co that cricketers may look forward to a busy season. The report also referred to the lo?s the Association and Auckland cricket had sustained through the departure of Mr J. N. Fowko from this city. The balance-sheet showed the receipts for tho year (including a credit balance from tho previous season of £10 Is 8d) to be £235 6s 6d and the expenditure £227 7» 9d, leaving a crotJit balanco of £7 IS 9d. In moving tho adoption of the report arid balance-sheet, the Chairman eulogieod tho careful management of the Association's finances by tho Secretary and Treasurer, and congratulated the Association on possessing two such jealous officer. It was unanimously carried thab the Secretary forward a letter of condolence bo the widow and family of the late J. J. Swinnerbon, late Vice-President of the Club.

The annual meeting of the West End Rowing Club was held on September 15th, in the boatshed, Ponsonby. In his reporb, the captain congratulated the members on the improved financial position of the Club, and also stated that on the whole he considered the succosa of the crews which raced under its colours fair. There was a good muster of members at the eleventh annual meeting of the St. George's Rowing Club on Sepb. 19. The report for the paat year was eminently satisfactory, and was, with the balancesheet, adopted without discussion. The Club ie in a\very strong financial condition. Tho balance-sheet showed a debit balance of £45 10s lOd, but in the balance of assets over liabilities, after making liberal allowance for depreciation, the Club is able to claim the substantial amounb of £317 2s 2d.' There was a large attendance at the twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Auckland Rowing Club, which was held on Sept. 28th. Thocapbain of tho Club, Mr T. Henderson, presided. The annual report was submitted as follows: —Tho Committee have again bho pleasure of presenting the annual report and balance-sheet, and in congratulating the Club on the success of the past season. Tho , alterations and additions t6 the boat-house were, completed early in the season, and the members now have tho most complete accommodation in the district. The Club races were of more than ordinary interest, and the inauguration of a series of handicap sculling matches proved very successful. An entirely new doparture was taken as far as this district is concerned in sending a representative crow to compete in the outriggsd and ' other . races ab the Championship Regatta, hold at Picton, under the auspices of the N.Z. A. R.A. The crow, consisting of Messrs Koefe, Barrett, Cole, and Gibbons,, were successful in annexing £24 iv prize money, and Mr Keefe again secured the Auitueur Sculling Championship. Bub for accidents the results would have been even more satisfactory, The representative crew also competed at the Wellington Regatta, but v:ero unsuccessful, owing to the breakage of an oar. The Club was represented ab the Poneonby, Judge's Bay and Auckland Kcguf.tas, and succeeded in winning one senior and two junior-four boat race?, and ono eanior whaleboat race. Three other events would have beesi secured bub for damage to and evnunping of the boat. The total omaunh of prize monoy won during the eeasou was £57. During the seasoni'there were added to the plant one racing outrigged four, two clinker inrigged fours and two clinker scullers, built by Norton, of Wellington. • The planb now consists of two pleasure whalcboats, one racing oubriggod four, one racing inrigged four, three practice inrigged four?, two clinker oubriggod fours, two clinker double scullers and four clinker scullers, and the necessary complement; of oars nnd sculls. The thanka of the Club ere due to the President, Vice-President* and others for presentation to the fund 3. The financial condition of the Club in satisfactory, thoro being n surplus of assets over liabilities of £153 13s lid, after writing oH 20 per cent, for depreciation. To enable the Club to mainbain the leading position which it now occupies, it is urged on members to uso every exertion to increase the roll'of membership, and to ba diligent in practice and training. Tbo . statement of accounts showed the total receipts to have been £281 9s lid, the main items being balance,' September, 1893, £76 9s lid ; subscriptions, £96s 9a lid ; prize monoy, £57; and donations, £31 16s 6d. The expenditure left a credit balance in hand of £2 18s Id ; for boats and oars £109 was paid, and alterations to shed, £90 13;, the remainder being in small sums.
