At a meeting of the Knights of Labour held last evening in the Cook-street Hall, ib was resolved to write to the other local labour organisationaahd ask them to act in conjunction with the Knights of Labour in getting up a monster petition to Government re the Shop Hours Bill. It was also decided to hold a social meeting of the Knights and their friends in tho Alexandrastreet schoolroom next Wednesday evening.
A game of football was played on Wednesday between a team composed of boys employed in the meat trade and a team from the Nelaon-stareefc, School, and ended in a win for the school by 18 points to 5. Tries were scored by Burke, Barehard, Thornton, Dieson, and three were converted by C. Leslie. For the butchers Green scored a try, which he converted.
A meeting of the Auckland branch of tho New Zealand Educational Institute will be held to-morrow morning, when thi? question of charging rent for teachers' houses, the Wrigley question and other matters, will be discussed. .
