GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOARD.
A meeting of bhe Auckland College, and Grammar School Board of Governors was held yesberday ab bhe Board's office, Vicboria Arcade, -There -were prelseub : Hon. Colonel T. M. Haulbain (Chairman), Rev. C. M. Nelson, Professor Brown, Messrs S. Luke and R.Udy. It was resolved thab the Chairman, Mr Udy and Mr Cooper be appointed a.Commibte.e to draw up a pro... beab against the Education Reserves Bill, 1894." The following recommendation by bhe Commibbee appointed to make regulations to admit Maori boys bo free buition ab bhe school, was adopted, and ordered to be forwarded to the Minister for Education :— " Boys may be admitted between the ages of 12 and 15, and may remain* till the age of 18, and if then in the sixth form remain for a year longer. Boys under 14 must be able to pass an entrance ..examination equivalenb to .bhe fourbh standard of the primary schools : those above 15 must pass the fifth standard. The examination will be conducted under the direction of the headmaster. The number of boys admitted to free tuition in-any one year shall not exceed sii, and the total number shall ab no time exceed twelve. The privilege of free tuition applies only to boys of the pure Maori race. The privilege may be withdrawn in the case of.any boys unfavourably reported on by the headmaster with regard to conduct, irregularity of attendance, or progress in study.- Every-' studeub will have bo pay for bhe books required in class."
