War. Waters v. G. M. Sirran.—This was a
claim to recovor £5| for detention of office * furniture. The goods were, however, returned after the issue of the summons, and ■ there wa3 then only a question of costs as damages to be coneideredi —Mr E. W. Burton appeared for the plai hfciff, and Mr C. R. 1 Tyiden for the defence.--His Worship gave • judgment yesterday afternoon for the plaintiff for £1 163 costs. JUDGMENT SUM'IIONS CASE'S. *■■' T. U. BtjBNE v. A. W. Anderson*, claim £3 16s'.6d. —The-debitor pub in a seb-off which was allowed, and reduced the debt to" £2 9s 6d.—Dafendat jb. then offered to pay 10s per month, and an, order was made to that .effect.—Mr Ba'itmo represented the plan tiff. •' f ° H. Gilmore v. John HooAN, claim £2 19s 7d. —Defendant "was ordered to pay £1 ' f Sa by the 6th of December. WAbout a PiANO.-^Arthur John Furness *$. VV. H. Webbe,—This was a claim for £7 10s for sorvices as a commission agent in connection witr'h the sale of a piano and organ, the property of defendant. The commission asked for was 7£ per cent, on £100. —Mr Jackson Palmer appeared for the plaintiff / and Mr Thomas Cotter for defendant. The case was a peculiar one. The plaintiff deposed that he heard thab a friend was going to buy a/piano afa defendant's. He therefore w/enb to defendant and mentioned - the fact, c/iaiming to receive commission if the sale wr4re made. Ue also racommendod |i his friend/'s wife to have the piano. Ulti- ' tnately tMe piano was bought and he claimed . his compmsion. Cross-examined by Mr Cotter, witness admitted he knew nothing about the/piano, bub was told it was good. He waa i* commission agent), but had no office, His address was Victoria Arcade. J. -A. Cjrey deposed thab ho wenb with plaintiff /to defendant's. Mr Webbe said Lhe case wafi not a cash transaction, as the money was nob paid until two months affcorwards./ He offered plaintiff £5 10s ; but Mr Furness claimed the £7 10a. Afterwards! Mr Moore, defendant's bookkeepe;r, offered £6. Witnees advised them to splib the difference. M r Webbe offered a cheqiae for £6, which was refused.—Other witnesses were awaiting examination when wo Vfenb to press Ki-HEATUNG. —An application was made by fMr Jackson Faliner for a rehearinff in the caao of William George bi/rham v.
