WHARF ACCOMMODATION.
The question of extending the No. 2 Jetty at Quay-street was discussed yesterday at a meeting of the Works nnd Tariff Committee of the Harbour Board, when there were present: MeßerrA. H. Nathan, R. Farrell, M. Niccol, J. J. Holland, T. Henderson, C. Houghton, and J. T. Julitin. In introducing the matter the Chairman said he considered the' first question was one of finance.* Ad October the Board had to remib £6^ooo Home and another £6,000 would hare to be sent in January. They had £8,000 in hand and of course there would be income in the interim. As far as he could ascertain, they would have about £2,000 fn hand, which was nob much to carry on thu necessary work in the harbour, v
Mr Farrell spoke in favour i;f the work being proceeded with, urging that tha Board would have from £4,000 t& £5,000 in hand by March./ ' \ Mr Nathan said ib was nob desirable to anticipate the income. \ MrMiccol said the cosb would bo about £2,700 for. the extension, which with the shed would cost about £3,000." \ Captain Duder was called in, and tasked if he found any difficulty in finding\sufficienb berthage accommodation.
