WESTERN AUSTRALIA.

(To the Editor.)

Sjr,—l would suggest the advisability, in tho interests of the Now Zealand producers, tliab the Union Steamship Company or the Huddart-Parker, during the nexc three months, run a boat from this or any New Zealand port, direct to Perth or Albany. Judging from the very low prices obtained for produce here I consider it would pay the merchants of Auckland to load up a vessel with all classes of produce for the Western Australian goldfields.

1 have no hesitation in stating that there are a great number of unemployed men in Auckland who would be only too glad to avail themselves of the opportunity to get direct to Perth or Albany without having to tranship, and fchia would ease the labour market considerably. I trust the shipping companies will give this matter full coueideration
