QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY.
London, August 29,
The Council of the Colonial Institute suggested to the Premier thab the Queen's Birthday should be proclaimeda public holiday throughout the Empire. Lord Rosebery replied that the community generally should take action, and not the Government. One obvious objection to tho proposal was that it is undesirable to have another holiday so near Whifc Sunday, which in England is a general holiday.
