NEWTON PIGEON AND CANARY CLUB.
The annual meeting oi: the Newton Pigeon and Canary Club was held last uighb in the basement of the; Foreitera Hall. Mr W. B. Sowden, President of toe Club, presided. There was a large attendance of members. The fifth annual report) was read. This showed the membership of the Club had increased by 13 during the year, the total number of members now being 72. By the hearty co-operation of members and friends the Committee had been enabled to pay off £16 odd, due to members who had advanced paymenb for peue. These, together with bird cages and necessary fixings, were nowtte property of the Club, and well worth £50. There had also been paid" in prizes £48 2& The Committee had had under consideration several important matters, viz., (1) redao« tion of entrance fees for birds which ib vti hoped would lead to increased entries; {&) re-arrangemeac of schedule; (3) claaaifica" tion of rollers, which at present gave satisfaction to no one except successful exbibi- , tors. Additional pens would,hare to_ JJB purchased out of this year's revenue. iM balance-sheet showed a total expenditure of £125 17s 6d, the balance to the good being £7 15a Sd, the balance carried_ torward frpm the previous year having been 13s 7d. The report and balance-sheet wer« adopted. The following officers . were, elected :-Presidenb : Mr W. B. Sowden (re-elected). Vice-presidents: Messrs A. L. Edwards, A. fl. Grainger, J. Walker, G. Towler, A. E. Cot*. ■ and W. E. B. Moore. Committee («r pigeons) : Messrs Willis, Hamon, J. Jo?n; stone, Craig, Ford. Brigham, Chad* Barbley ; (for canaries).
