The anniversary of the Battle of Boyne waa celebrated at Papakura, in the Orange Hall, on the 13th inst. by a social gabbering. The following programme was ably carried out, Mr W. Richardson presiding : Songs, Mr P. Lynch, Mr H. McArthur (encored); recitations, Mias Peters, Miss Pollock (encored), and Master Peters ; readings, Mr Richardson and Rev. T. Norrie ; whistling solo, Mr Pyne (encored); clog dance, Professor Silveetor (encored). The Rev. T. Norrie gave a short speech suitable to the occasion, and referred to the decease of the late Mr Tomlineon, an industrious and much respected settler, and who was a consistent member of the Lodge for many yoara. A domestic servant named Jennie White, agod twenty • two years, has been committed for trial by the Whangarei Bench on the charge of alleged concealment of birth. The body of an infant was found in the Whangarei River wrapped in a gunnie bag, and at the inquoso held subsequently the evidence showed tbat the child had breathed, although it was not born alive.
