VEHICULAR TRAFFIC.
PROSECUTION OF DRIVERS
Me Turner, Traffic Inspector for the City Council, had a number of cases at the Police Courb to-day against drivers of vehicles. Mr R. S. Bush, S.M., was on the Bench. A. Newman was fined Is and costs 7s, for allowing his horse to trob round the corner of Queen and Customs-streets. He explained thab the animal was a young one, and nob easily managed. German Evans was also fined a like amount for trotting his horse round the corner of Karangahape Road. In the cases of Alfred Drew, James Rowe and George Church, the informations were dismissed, owing tp errors in the dates. Daniel Webb was fined Is and coats for not having a light on a dray after sunset. He stated that he had been a driver 14 or 15 years, and yeb he did nob know thab lights were required to drays. Mr Turner said be had warned numbers of drivers, bub hob Mr Webb. Christian Trail, Hugh Milner, Jeremiah Murphy, Gilbert Hamilton, Thomas Barker, William Dalziell, John Murphy and Hun Nee were each fined la and costs 7s for driving carts after sunset wibhoub having lights. Hun Nee smiled sweetly at the Bench, and said, in answer to the question, " Me out half-past six o'clock, me no candle, no lampee ; anything to pay ?" The Courb orderly, nob having learned bhe Chinese language in his youth, gravely held up eight fingers, and Hun Nee, with a charming smile, understood, and paid.
