THE TRANSVAAL.

PRESSING OF BRITISHERS. A REMARKABLE DEMONSTRATION. EXCITEMENT AMONG THE BOERS. Capetown, June 25. Contrary to President Kruger's desire, the British residents in the Transvaal took the horses out of Sir H. Loch's carriage on arrival at Pretoria, and insisted on dragging it themselves. They also hoisted the Union Jack, and sang the National Anthem. The Boers responded by dragging Kruger's carriage to his residence. The members of the Volksraad consider the action of the Englishmen an insult to the president. There is great excitement among the Boers, who are arming themselves, and flocking into Pretoria.

Pretoria, June 26.

Sixteen thousand British residents in the Transvaal have signed a petition setting forth their grievances under President Kruger's rule.
