Gisbobne, Monday.

The rivers Waimata and Turanganui are in flood. The low-lying portions of the town are flooded. Fences have been blown down, trees uprooted, and greab damage to property has resulted. The approaches to the bridges in many places have been carried away, and greab damage has been done to the freezing works. The water worked in behind the groin on the western bank of the * river, formed a channel 150 feet broad, and washed away the gas beacon. Tuo fishing amack Bella Mary parted her moorings and drifted down the river and went to pieces against the shipping at the lower end. The big river overflowed ab Dormer's, and was within three inches of coming over ab Ormond. The township of Ormopd ia flooded, and a portion ot the Mabunga Bridge has been carried away. All Hobtlers are ahifting their sheep. Ravenham is under water. At Te Arai the river is very high. If the weather does not abate the settlerß will be compelled to.leave their homes. The rainfall is by far the highest for the past 17 years. Since Saturday night up to nine this morning 8*99 inches fell.
