NORTHERN S.S. CO.'S MOVEMENTS.
Monday.*--Douglas leaves for Whangarei Town Wharf at 5 p.m.; Clansman leaves for Russell, Whangaroa, and Mangonui at 1 p.m.; Argyle leaves for Kuaotunu and Mercury Bay at 7 p.m. ; Wellington arrives from Whangarei; Glenelg from Raglan and New Plymouth. Tuesday.—Glenelg leaves for Wanfjanui at 1 p.m. ; Eanieri, for Waibara and Opunake, at 1 p.m. ; Wellington, for Whangarei, Marsden Point, Parua Bay, and Mangapai, at 10.20 p.m. ; Argyle arrives from Kuaotunu and Mercury Bay, and leaves for the Great Barrier at midnighb; Cholmsford : arrives from Whangamata, Whakatane, and Tauranga. Thames Service. — Rotomahana or Ohinemuri leaves for Thames daily, and Paeroa leaves for Paeroa twice weekly. The schooner Sovereign sailed on Saturday for Kaipara with a parb cargo of general merchandise. She ships timber at Aratapu for Lybtelton. The brig Vision, now Ab the Railway Wharf, will on tlio discharge of her coul proceed either to Mercury Bay or Mangonui to ship timber for Sydney. H.M.s. Curacoa will probably sail for Samoa on Tuesday week. She left to-day for gun practice and will remain outside the harbour for two or three days. Tho fine barque Rio, after coming out of dock, where she haa been overhauled, was towed alongside the Rongitikoiat the Quaystreet Wharf. The Rio takes in ballast from bhe New Zealand Shipping Company's barque, and then sails fur Newcastle where she ships coal for Napier. At Aratapu, Kaipara, Messrs Barbour Bros, are building a wooden steamer of about 60 tons for towing service in Kaipara waters. The engine for the new vessel is being made ab the Thames by Price, and will be taken round to Aratapu from Auckland by the barquentine Waitemata. The brigantine J. C. Hamlin, junr., now loading ab the Railway Wharf for New York, is receiving quick dispatch ab the hands of Messrs Arnold, Cheney and Co., and will be ready for sea 5n aboub three weeks' time. It has been decided that' owing to the lack of freights the wellknown barquentine Elinor Vernon will not come on to this port. Owing to telegraphic communication being interrupted with Gisborne, no advice of the Talune can come through. Ib appears that) she landed her passengers ab Napier yesterday, bub could nob take off the outward ones, The Talune will probably nob call ab Gisborne, bub come etraighb on to Auckland, arriving here •arly to-morrow morning.
