Drunkenness. — One firsb offender was remanded for a week.

WINDO^y • BREAKING, -r- Wm. Blighb, charged with having. broken one pane df shop-window glass and one botble cap, of the total Taluo of £12, the property of J. F. King, was remanded for a week, on the application of Sergeant Gamble.

Alleged Forgery.—Wm. John Fain was charged with forging the name of P. Dufaur to a promissory note for £25, and with having uttered the same.—Mr Napier appeared for the accused.—A remand, waa granted for eight days. Larceny.—Eugene. Koltes was sentenced to four months' imprisonment with hard labour for the larceny of a blanket valued at Bs, the property of Peter Comege. Breach of By-laws.—Thomas Bowden, cabman, was charged with having committed a breach of the city by-laws, by plying tor hire with a hackney carriage, for which no license was then in force.— The defendant pleaded guilty, and said he was ignorant of the city bylaws.—Mr Thos. Cotter appeared for the City Council.—A fine of 20s and 28s costswas inflicted.

Husband and Wife.— An application by Mrs E. Bell for a protection order against her'husband, John Bell, was heard.—Mrs Bell asked the Gourb for a protection order againsb her husband, and for the custody of the children, and also that the husband should be'compelled to pay a proper amount for her maintenance and. that of the infant children.—Mr Cotter appeared for the wife, and Mr Baume for bhe defendant.— Evidence was giv,en by the complainant as to the relations existing between herself and her husband.—The case was proceeding late this afternoon.
