In the Resident Magistrate's Court today, a speedy summons, case, Helena Fraser v. Edward Noble, claim, £5 7s, was beard by Mr H. W. Northcroft, R.M. The claim was for bbatd a„fi-lodg-ing owing to the plaintiff. Judgment having been, previously.-obtained for theamounb alleged bo be owing for board and lodging, bhe plaintiff took out a speedy summons for payment, making an affidavit bhut she believed bhedefendan tin tended leaving Auckland at once for the South Island. She stated that she believed he was going South to-day either by tbe s.s. Mararoa or Tasmania. The defendanb appeared before tho Court and stated tbab he was awaiting money which had not come, and that ho had no intention whatever of leaving the defendanb or of leaving Auckland before he paid. it. The case was adjourned bill tomorrow afternoon, to enable the defendant to arrange for paymenb.

A claim of alleged damage to cargo carried on one of tho Northern S.S. Company's stoaraers was partly beard at the R.M. Court bo-day. The caso was brought: by Walter Medas against the Northern S.S. Company, claim £10, for damage lo two boxes and contents. Evidence was taken this morning, and the ca-o was adjourned till Wednesday afternoon.

The Thames R.M. today dismissed tbe case againsb Charles Chilcotb, a local jeweller, of having an unlicensed machine within the meaning of section 307 of the Mining Act in his possession. Evidence in the case was baken on Monday last.
