FEARS FOR HER SAFETY.

Gisborne, this day. Considerable anxiety is felt for the safety of the- scow Whangaroa, which left thiß porb for Lyttelton on the 25tb January and has nob since beon heard of. She musb have met the exceptionally heavy weather experienced by bhe ship Margaret Galbraith, and a vessel of her class could hardly have weathered such a gale as thab was reported to be, boiri^ E_ . in the bottom and riding very li^ht. The Whangaroe was a large new boat ot 130 tons register, capable of carrying 200,000 feeb of timber. Captain Burns was accompanied by his wife, and the crew numbered six.
