1 think ib will be found that the desire of the Government to appoint women inspectors of lunatic asylums, cannot bo entertained under the existing law.
The evening journals aro strongly combating the statement endorsed by tho Treasurer in Dunedin, that the banks are draining New Zealand deposits to meet Australian requirements.
The report of the School Inspectors' Conference ia now under consideration of the Minister. I understand that ibis a valuable document thab will largely affect the future of the Department.
Col. Fox goessouth in a few days to complete hia inspection of volunteers.
Mr Amelius Smith has been appointod Secretary to the new Department of In duatries and Commerce.
