PASTOR SPURGEON'S OFFER.

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—lt was with surprise I read thab the City Councillors bad declined Mr Spurgeon's offer, and would suggest that such decision be re-considered. Mr Thomas Spurgeon is a lover of art, and frequently made contributions to our arb exhibitions, so we may be sure the presentation be proposed to make of a bust of his father would be a credit to our Art Gallery, That we have nine councillors, it would be interesting to know their names, who would decline such a gift, does not say much for their love of the beautiful and appreciation -of the world-wide philanthropic work of the late C. H. Spurgeon, whose memory will herevered in ages to come when the mosb of us have passed inbo oblivion.—l am, etc., R. French.
