FATE OF THE CAPTAIN'S PARTY,
A PERILOUS STRUGGLE FOR LIFE,
DEATH OF THE CAPTAIN AND
ENGINEER
THE MATE'S PARTY STILL MISSING.
Brisbane, this day. News has been received of Captain Campbell and the party who landed in the boat after the steamer Kattahooka foundered in the Gulf of Carpentaria. They journeyed a considerable distance along tbe coast, swimming rivers and creaks. Felton, the engineer, died from exposure. Captain Campbell was drowned crossing a river. Other two firemen and the cook were picked up by a stockman and taken to Mentina Station.
Steamers Bent out in search not having returned, the fate of the boat in charge of the mate of the steamer is still unsolved.
