AN EXTENSIVE SWINDLE.

Sydney, January 18.

An extensive swindle hits been successively carried out on the National Bank oi Australasia. A man presented a cheque, signed " Walhawala Station Company," for £1,500, and obtained pold for it. Subsequently he paid a choquo similarly signed for £4,000, into tho City Bank; but tho National Bank din - covered the fraud, and stopped tho collection of the £4,000 cheque, it is believed the swindler was formerly employed in a clerical capacity on the Walhawala Station, and having stolen signed cheques, tilled them in himself. The police have found no trace ot the man.
