Christchurch, this day. The ballob for 42 sections of fireb and second class agricultural land on the Cheviot Estate on lease in perpetuity took place yesterday. There was a large number of applicants for several of tho sections, but in four cases no application was made. The area of land leased is 10,791 acres, and the annual revenue £2,952.

The nrea of land sold for cash on the Cheviot Estate ia 6,365 acres, tor which £33,608 has been received. The nrea leased is 27,312 acres. The capital value of this is £142,500, and tho yearly rental £7,140. The area remaining for disposal is 46,237 acres.
