Auckland Wool Stores, December 20. On Wednesday, 13th December, we held our first wool sale of bhe season. The abtendance of buyers both foreign and colonial marked an increase on lasb year, and all wool was keenly competed for ab prices which showed an increase generally of id per lb on lasb year's closing rates. Wo again had bho pleasure of topping bhe markeb wibh Mr Mcßae's JT over x over Tanewha clip ab B£d per lb. Wools were better gob up, and gave every evidence bhab growers are paying more abbenbion bo bhe careful growbh and classing of bhe staple. The wool is much lighter in tho grease and cleaner, and more free from cotts. We quote as follows :—Half-breda up to S_d; fine crossbrods, 7id to 84d ; medium croßsbreds, 6Ad to 7£d : coarse crossbreds, ..^d to 6Jd ; longwools, 6^d to 7Jd ; merinos, 6d to 7d; bellies, 3d to s*d; locks, l|d to 2^d ; lambs, up to 7d.
On Tuesday 19th December we submitted a fortnight's supplies of hides and skins which were all quibbed at full rates as follows ; — Hides.—Prime ox up to 6d ; heavy stout ox, 4d to sgd ; medium, 2£d to 3£d ; thin and sheeby, 2d bo 2Jd ; cow (keen inquiry), 2d to 2|d ; kip, 2d to Z_& ; sbag, Id bo 2d calf, 2d to 3d. Skins were nob so much in demand, bub sold readily ab:—Counbry skins, Is 7<j t 0 3s 3d ; pelts, 9d to lOd. No butchers' iota were catalogued this week. Bags Wool.—Wo offered a large assortmenb of bags, ebc, on 20bh insb., all of which were cleared ab sabisfacbory figures.
