THE TWO MRS PATTERSONS.
Some time was taken up at bhe Police Courb bhis morning by bhe debails of a quarrel between two young married women. Charlotte Patterson was charged with having assaulted Marbha Patberson ab Kingsland. Mr F, Baume appeared for bhe defendanb who pleaded not guilty. Mr W. J. Napier appeared for the informant. Mrs Marbha Pabteraon, wife of Matthew Patterson, doposed thab on Saburday, bhe 16bh insb*, she was passing defendants place, when she waa seized by Mrs Pabterson, dragged- bo bho ground, and beaten with her own umbrella. Sho asked bhab defendant should bo bound down bo keep bhe peace. This abatement was partly corroborated by two boys and a married woman. The defendant then gave evidence to the effect thab she did strike complainant, being provoked to do so by her slanders. AMr McCuno deposed to hearing tho informant going righb through tho pedigree of bhe defendants family. Ib was, ho considered, nothing bub scandal. The Bench fined defendanb ss, each party to pay her own costs, as ib was considered there waa some provocation.
