A NAVAL ENGAGEMENT.
Rio de Janeiro, December 21. An unsuccessful attempt has been made by Loyalists to re-take Governador, an island in bhe harbour. Many of the insurgents were killed ia defending the island, while General Telles waa wounded.
Persistent reports are in circulation thab a naval engagement book place off bhe coasb, bhe warships engaged in the encounter being the Aquidaban and Republic belonging to the insurgents, and the Tiradentes and Bahia of the Loyalisb fieeb. The bwo labber are said to have been captured.
