ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.
(BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, this day. Edwin Howell, a journalist, who had recently arrived from Auckland, was remanded there on a warrant charging him with false pretences. [Howell is charged with having obtained the sum of £3 from Mr Smith, of the Imperial Hotel, in prepayment of an advertisement which Howell promised would be inserted in the "Busy Bee," notwithstanding that he knew that the journal had ceased to exist.]
