LAWN TENNIS.

Thr oponing of the Parnell Lawn Tennis court took place this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Auckland Lnwn Tennis Association held its annual meeting at the British Hotel la?t evening, Mr'B. J, Esam in the chair. The following delegates were present:— Messrs Denniaton, Paton, Brown, Cooke, Parr, Hosking, Morton, Mason, Blair and the Secretary. The report for the season stated, among other things, the Association has been strengthened during the Beason by tho addition to its numbers of the Onehunga Club. Towards tho end of the playing season a suggestion was made that it would tend greatly to advance the interests of tennis in Auckland if the New Zealand Association's annual tournament could be held in Auckland, and the members of the Eden and Epsom Club having kindly ofiered to give the use of their ground for the purpose. A meeting of the Association was held, and a Committee, with Mr R. Blair as Secretary, for the tournament appointed, who have made arrangements for holding the tournament meeting here during the Christmas week, and it is hoped thab all tennis players in the district will do their best to make it a success in every way. Tho balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £3 5s 2d. The report and balance-sheet were put to tho meeting and adopted. Mr H. T. Maclean was re-elected honorary Secretary and Treasurer, and Messrs Morrison and Heather were re-elected Auditors for the coming season. On the motion of Mr Paton, seconded by Mr Mason, the Newmarket Club was elected to the Association. Owing to the New Zealand tournament taking place at Christmas it was decided not to fix the dates for receiving entries for the local championship matches till after that event. A good deal of desultory discussion took place on tha advisability of altering the present system cf playing olf the inter-club doubles, but nothing definite was decided. A vote of thanks to the Secretary for his efforts during the past season was carried by acclamation, and a vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
