CRICKET MATCHES YESTERDAY.

The lovely summer weather yesterday and the greab interest shown in Wednesday crickeb meetings, attracted a large crowd to the Domain, including a number of ladies. The Trades Crickeb Association started ; their championship matches, the following being fche competing teams :— Newton v. Butchers.—The knights of>. the cleaver went to the wicket tirst, and pub up a score of 63, of which total Kilgour (11), Roberbson (11), Griffiths (14) and Shore (13), were the chief contributors. The Newton team followed with 85 for 9 wickets, the principal scorers being Holden (14), Winn (20), and W. Rowe (36). Onehunga v. Dairymen.—in the first innings the Dairymen secured36runs, Midgley (10), and Stewart (12), being the only players to reach double figures. Onehunga followed with bhe splendid total of 113, Selby (49), and Beavers (21) being promtnenb scorers. City v. St. John's.—The former pub up 83, and St. John's 72. The chief scorers were : For Sb.' John's, Murphy (15), Bramah (23), Gillespie (10); and for City, Davis (26) and Copeland (18). These matches will be continued nexb Wednesday. North Shore v. H.M.s. Tauranga.—At the North Shore yesterday, a return match was played between the North Shore Crickeb Club and an eleven from H.M.s. Tauranga. The match was very interesting, and by the victory gained, the man-o'-waramen have come out best in bhe five matches played. • Yesterday they secured 86 runs, Lieutenant Abdy (31), Armourer Coggihs (19), and Sergeant Tyrell (11), being bhe highest scorers. North Shore totalled 60 runs, of which 20 were secured by Christian, who was the only player to reach double figures. RAMBLERS' CRICKET CLUB. A meeting of the Newton Ramblers' Crickeb Club was held last night ab the Edinburgh Castle Hotel. Mr P. Quinlan (President) presided. It was agreed that' a Second Eleven be formed to play matches with clubs outside of the Association, and thab the First Eleven play for the First Junior Cup, if it were not too late bo join in the contests.
