Wellington", this day. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association waa held on Saturday night, Mr W. Bod well (Wanganui) in the chair. The annual report) and balance-sheet were adopted, Mr A. S. Patterson (captain of tho Wellington Rowing Club) taking exception to the second paragraph in the report, which he con* siderad did not give a fair account) of what had taken place ab (the championship regatta. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: — Patron, Hia Excellency tho Governor; President, Me John Duncan (Picton); Vice-presidents* Messrs John White (Dunedin). and A. S. Patterson' (Wellington); Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. S. Biss (Wellington). In reply to a letter from the Victorian Rowing Association, asking whether New Zealand would aseisb in sending a representative crew to England next year, it was decided chat the scheme was at present impracticable. It was estimated that the cost would be about £3,000, and thab the contribution from each colony would be be*, tween £600 and £700. Correspondence with reference to disputes in connection with the championship regatta ab Lake Forsyth, was read. Mr J. C. Jonea (Canterbury Rowing Club) said bad weather was responsible for the difficulties thab had cropped up. He regretted that the Association had not instructed some competent] person to inquire into the truth of the statement that the etakes at Kaiapoi had been shifted surreptitiously. Mr Patterson considered the regatta had been badly managed, and the Chairman agreed with him. Mr J. G. Rule said there Vaß no doubt the stakes had been altered, but by whom it waa impossible to say. On the motion of Mr Patterson, seconded by tha Chairman, the action of the Secretary in exoneration from blame was approved, lto was decided that a circular should be sent to the affiliated clubs in Auckland, pointing out that they must see that in all programmes of races for which they enter there is a proviso thab events are bo be rowed under the Association rules. The nowly-elecbed President moved, " That the next championship regatta be held ab Picton." He said the people of Blenheim, and Nelson had subscribed about £200 for the gathering. Mr W. .H. Field (Star Boating Club) expressed regret thab tha draft programme included races for batswing boats. He thought the money should be devoted to outrigger rowing. Mr. J. Connolly (Blenheim Rowing Club) abated that the Marlborough Committee was prepared to alter the programme to suib the wishes of the Association. The motion was agreed to. It waa decided to recommend the Marlborough Committee to hold the regatta on Easter Monday. A Committee was set up to drafb rules for the appointment) of a Council to consider disputes referred to tha Association. A motion by the Wellington Rowing Club, that the prize money for the championship regattas should be provided by the Association, was lost. It was decided on the motion of the Wellington Rowing Club thab in future the appointment of starter, judges and umpires, in connection with the championship regattas should be subject to the approval of tha Association. The following men were reinstated :—G. Barrett (Auckland Rowing Club), E. G. Bailey (City Rowine Club, Auckland), P. Graham (Wellington Rowing Club). The honorarium for Secretary waa fixed at fifteen guineas per annum. This was all the business,
