' So far Mr S. Carnell is the only candidate announced for Napier, but it ia understood that Mr Swan will offer himself for reelection. Captain Russell will be opposed in Hawke'a Bay by .Mr T. Tanner, formerly M.H.E. for Waipawa, who is now in England, bub left a signed nomination paper and address. He stands in the Government interest), bub ib is expected that another candidate will come forward on the same side, probably Mr Reardon, who contested the seat last year. In addition to Messrs Hunter (Opposition) and Hall (Government) for Waipawa, Mr V. Jensen, storekeeper at Porangahau, is out on the Government interest. Messrs Carrol and DeLaubour are likely to have a third candidate in the Waiapu electorate. Mr John Bennett, sheep farmer, of Pukcbapu, who has taken a prominent part on local governing bodies, has been asked to eland, and has gone to Gieborne to teeb bhe*feeling ab that end of the constituency before coming to a decision.
