Information has boen received from Warkworth that a settler named John Cowan, of Kawawhero, was found dead on Saturday last hanging by the neck from the roof of his dwelling, suspended by somo green flax. Deceased was a native of Scotland, 65 years of age. and a single man. For the laßt 34 years he has resided in the Warkworth district, and was possessed of means. Ab tho inquest held subsequently, a verdicb was returned thab deabh was bbc result of strangulation, when deceased was in an unsound state of mind.
