VILLAGE SETTLEMENT BILL
Adelaide, this day. The Logislativo Council, by a majority of two, decided in favour of a Bill embodying the principle of tho assessment of unimproved values, but directly afterwards cut the root out of tho measure by inserting a provision that half the ratepayers Daunt vote beforo any corporation can apply the principle. Tho bulk of tho Village Settlement Bill han passed through Committee. The only notable alteration affectod is in tho restriction of loans to half the value of improvomonts.
