A deputation of Otaki natives waited on the Premier and urged thab tho date for election of Maori members should be earlier than that of tho general elections, as otherwise many Maoris might be induced to vote as Europeans and thus invalidate their righttovotefornative representatives. The Premier, who promised to consider the matter, is understood to be in sympathy with the requesb. The Premier has Colonel Fox's report under consideration at present, his objecb being to give the oarliesb possible effecb to whab be sketched oub in his speech in the Houao on the subjeob.
