PEOPLE'S POPULAR CONCERTS.

A packed houso greeted Mr John Fuller and the artistes of tho People's Popular Concert held at tho Opera House lasb night. Probably ib was the mosb successful concert of the serios, from all points of view, thab haß boen given. The programme was full of popular numbers and oach waa given in a manner that the captious critic could not find fault with. Mr _?uller's sympathetic and mellow tenor voice was heard to great advantage in hia contributiona. Ho gavo Blumenthal'a song "The Message" and for an encore "0 Summer Nighb." Laber in tho evening he rendered the fine song " Tom Bowling," and for an encore gavo a finished rendering of the ever popular song " Alice, Whoro Art Thou.'' Mr Fuller and Miss L, E. Featou scored a pronounced succgbs in the dueb "In bhe Dusk of Twilight," from tbe opera of " Madame Favart." The singers' voices blended beautifully, and tho audience would not be content until tho lasb verse was repeated. No doubt this will be one of the favourite vocal efforts at the forthcoming production of the opera by the Auckland Amateur Opera Company, Mr Percy Dufaur was in splondid voico, and he put all his vocal power in the fine songs "Tho Stirrup Cup" and "Tho Vagabond." Both contributions wero encored, and he responded with "My Own, My Guiding Star," and " Let me Love Thee." Miss Featon excelled herself last night, and gave evidence of steady improvement in her singing. She gave an excellent interpretation of the songs " Whisper and I Shall Hoar" and "Robin Adair." both being encored. Miss Birdio Butler was heard bo groat advantage in the song "Daddy." For an encore she contributed'|Comin' Through the Rye." Mr Alex. Smith's recitations wero ono of bhe features of the programme, and he was ro-called for each. Mrs Kilgour sang " When the Heart is Young " and " Only Love can Tell" in an acceptable manner, while Miss Clarico Brabazon's pianoforte solo " I Dreamt I Dwolb in Maible Halls " was encored. The concerb concluded with the dueb "Excelsior" by Mr Fuller and Mr Dutaur. Thia was one of bho beßt items

of the evening, and the audience louHt. applauded tho singers. During the even ing Mr Fuller thanked the audience for their attendance, and announced that nexb Wednesday evening the concerts would h« resumed in the City Hall.
