Jacob's b f La Gloria, by Glorinao— Hope 8 0 Garcon, who distinguished himsolf by winning a nino furlongs flat race at Flemington on Saturday last, will probably go to tho post ono of tho best favourites. Light Artillery, Day Dream, and Soinniloquisfc are trained by Walter Hickenbotham. Auster has tho reputation of being n slippery colt, while Aquarius, Pounamu, and Bessie Macarthy are amongst the most prominent of tho Caulfield-trained contingent. According to " Asmodeous," tho first named has for somo timo past acted as aide-dc cajrnp to Malvolio, and judging oi the highly satisfactory style in which he continues to acquit himself in bhis responsible capacity, the son of Niagara promises to provo troublesome to somo of his moro highly rated contemporaries. Salient will go to tho post with hia South Australian Derby honours thick upon him, and there ore several Australian keon judges of form whodeem Sir Howie's colb eminently qualified to compete againsb tho bost animals of his year. Mr IV. R, Wilson has Carnage, Havoc, Eureka, Argent and Pilatua to choose from, " Asmodeous " Bays Pilatus ia brod and made after the stylo of a typical milcr, and when galloping by himsolf on tlioSb. Albans track he can do all sortsofgood things against the watch; but so far he has not provod a success in public. Eureka, on the other hand, is something of "•dronein his privato studies, though a bib of a flyer when tho colours aro up, and after tho way ho performed on tho occasion of his maiden victory at Fleinington, there is no knowing to whab extent ho may ultimately succeed in asserting himsolf. Tho heab porlormed colb of tho whole field, with Carnage and Light Artillery under a cloud, ■3 Patron. This colb is my straight-out selection. Of tho othoro, Garcon, Havoc, Bessio McCarthy, Pounamu, and Salient »w good certificates.
