AUCKLAND LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Liberal Association was held last evening ab the Rooms, High-street. There was a largo attendance. A considerable amount, of correspondence was dealb with. The Chairman, in the name of tho Association, presented an illuminated address to Mr H. W. Wilding, Honorary Secretary, in recognition of his services during the past twelve months. A resolution was pssaod, on tho motion of Mr Worth, Presidont of the Trades and Labour Council, seconded by Mr W. J. Napier, deprecating the. action of the Legislative Council in throwing out the compulsory clause in the Industrial and Conciliation Bill. A large number of speakers advocated tho entire abolition of the Legislative Council. Mr Ryan moved a resolution, which was unanimously adopted, tbankiDg tho Government for their exertions to paas the Railways Bill. Seventeen new members were elected, and twenty-three were nominated tor election at nexb meeting. Mr Nordon (Organising Secretary) announced thab the Executive had made arrangements for a public meeting in connection with the Association at Avondalc to-morrow (Wednesday) evening, at 8 o'clock. He staced that a brake capable of seating filty persons would leave Queen-gtreeb Wharf on Wednesday evening, nb 7 o'clock, for Avondale. A considerable amount in subscriptions were received, ufter which tho meeting adjourned.
