MEETING AT TE AWAMUTU.

PROBABLE CANDIDATES FOR

WAIKATO AND WAIPA,

(BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Te Awamutu, thi3 day.

A Meeting of supporters of the Government was hold in To Awamutu last night. Many farmers and settlors wore present. Mr Teasdale was in the chair. Mr W. Johns pointed oub the manifest advantages to small farmers arising from the action of the Government Ho also dvvolb on the reduced taxation on small landholders, and on the prompt passing by the Government of the Auctioneers Act, 1892, a real boon to tho people. Thia had been asked from honesb John Bryce, but ho had not done anything in the matter. Mr Grosbain read a telegram which ho had that afternoon received from the Hon. A. J. Cadman, stating that he could not contest Waipa, as he was already promised for Woikato should suflicient electors desire him.

Messrs Teasdale and Lynch were appointed dologates to interview the Hamilton branch, and wero instructed to submit the names of Mr Frank Lawry and Major Harris as Dossiblo candidates for Waipa.

In this "district tho lady electors are rapidly putting in their claims to be placed on the electoral roll.
