Army.
The rebel squadron has inflicted great damage on the city.
Another attempt by tho rebels to effecb a landing was frustrated.
The Government despatched a warship to waylay armed merchant steamers coming to the assistance nf the rebels.
Although at first announced that tbo foreign mon-o'war would not permit; tho city to be shelled, they have refrained trom interfering.
