The well-known schooner Sarah Pile returned from a threo weeks' cruise to Norfolk Island lasb nighb after an uneventful voyage. When she sailed, life at the Island had resumed its ordinary routine, and the exciting incidents of the past couple of months had been almost forgobten. Tho

surplus portion of the community, consisting of shipwrecked mariners, had been removed, much to the relief of the other inhabitants. News was received by the Sarah Pile of the arrival at the island of the Melanesian Mission schooner Southern Cross from this port after a very boisterous voyage of six days. Extremely rough weather was encountered during the run up, and in one of the gales a boat was lost overboard. The vessel left the station on tho Ist inst. for her extended cruise among the islands comprising Melanesia. The Mission schooner Pitcairn, belonging to the Seventh Day Adventists, also pub in an appearance off Norfolk Island from Fiji during the Sarah Pile's stay, but did not communicate with the shore. She left two of the missionary people at the island. Tho Pitcairn may be expected hero very shortly.
