THE MINISTRY.

RE-ARRANGEMENT OF PORT

FOLIOS,

MR SEDDON NATIVE MINISTER.

MR CADMAN, JUSTICE AND MINES,

WORKS PORTFOLIO IN ABEYANCE

(Ef TELEGRAPH. —PARLIAMENTARY REPORTER,)

Wellington, this day. This afternoon the Premier will announce in the House the intention of the Government regarding the Native Portfolio. As stated a lew days ago, MrSeddon wiH himself take the position of Minister for Native Affairs, but Mr Cadman will not take the Public Works portfolio, as was partly expected. He will take up Justice and Minea till the end of the session, when a readjustment of portfolios will be made. Under the new arrangement, Mr Seddon will still continue in tlio position of Native Minister, but will relinquish the portfolio of Public Works in favour of Mr Cadman. In an interview I had with the latter this | morning, he informed me that ho had been j offered his old position, but after a good deal of consideration, had resolved nod to have anything to do in native affairs. To have taken up Public Works at the present moment would have been putting himself at a disadvantage, as the work is new to him, so ho decided to wait till tho end of tho session. MR CADMAN SWORN. Mr Cadman was sworn in as Minister of Justice and Mines at one o'clock to-day.
