THE MISSUS ALBU.
The Misses Albu, assisted by a number of well • known Aucklaad musicians, gave a nother fine concert at the City Hall last evening. Undoubtedly, the best item of the c oncerb waß Wallace's beautiful dueb from "Maritana," "Sainted Mother," which was sung by the Misses Albu co as to completely charm the audience and evoko great applause. Miss Julie Albu'a contributions to the programme comprised " I'm Alone," from Balfo's "Lily of Killarney," which was splendidly rendered, and in response to the inevitable encore Miss Albu sang Roeckel's ballad, "Ylang Ylang." This iady also sang Tosti's beautiful song, "For Ever and Ever," with great expression. Mi6s Rose Albu gave a charming interpretation of '"Tis the Harp in the Air," from " Maritana," which so delighted the audience that tho lady had to respond to an encore with a popular ballad. Miss Rose also sang the aria "Gonvien " from Doncizetti'a opera " La Figlia del Reggimento " so admirably, that she was thrice recalled to bow her acknowledgments. Herr Zimniermann contributed a couple of violin solos in his usual finished style, the items chosen being, Gounod's "Nazareth," arranged by Hermann, and "Fantasiestucke," by Schumann. On each occasion the performer was loudly applauded. Mr S. Jackson contributed two oxceilent solos on the clariouette—a fantasia by Baerman, and romance by Heise, A feature of the concert was a violin eolo by Miss Edith Whttelaw, a young lady about 12 years of age, pupil of Mr S. Adams. This young lady performed a fantasia on "Faußb" in a manner that exceeded expectation. .She produced a good tone, and her oxocution was really admirable. As an eucoro, Miss Whitolaw repeated the latter part of the fantasia. Tho other items on tho programme included the duet "La ci Darem le Mano," from Mozart's "Don Giovanni," sung by Miss Alba and Herr Unmack. The latter also contributed the " Song of the Toreador," from Bizot's " Carmen." Mr F. Norman sane, "A Bandit's Life," and Mr A. S. Reid, Wateon:s popular song, "Anchored," Mr ArchdaleTayler gave the recitative and aria " L'ofieso onor, Signori," from "Ernani," and the "Lord Chancellor's eong," from " lolanthe," as an encore piece.
