Messes Campbell (president), Coupland (treasurer), McLean (delegate trom South Canterbury), nnd Hobeu (secretary), tho New Zealand Rugby Union sub-committee ; appointed to draw up a reply to the Ht:atenicnc proparod by fcho Canterbury Rugby Union sub-committee, in regard to fclie reasons for Canterbury's non - affiliation, have published their statement here, and tlioy say that since tho formation of tho Union they have been the subject of constant misrepresentations*, but as usually tlteoe were unofficial, no official notice lias hitherto beon taken of them. The Canterbury Union, however, having appointed a sub - committee, and officially committed itself to a scries of miestatcmoiits, it wan decided that the true facts: of tho matter touched upon should bo Bet forth officially," and a sub-committee appointed to draw up a statement, under the heading of " Canterbury's change of front." In eoncluuion, the Committed states that it i* prepared to substantiate its- statements by documentary «njl other evidence of unimpeachable character. Tho manifesto of the Canterbury Union was full of other raisBtatemonts, but as they could not deceive; anyone having a knowledge of the subject, it was not neceaeary to refer to them.
