Ib is considered probable thab the next meeting of the Now Zealand Rifle Association, which will be held in March next, will take place at Oamaru if a suitable site can be secured. The Council of the Association is at present merely awaiting intelligence as to whether the old rauire is available before makine a final decision. In connection with shooting matters, Major Somcrville is of opinion bhab about 50 or 60 riflemen from New Zealand '«will compete at the _ New South Wales Riflo Association's meeting, in October, if liberal terms for fares can be arranged with the Union Steamship Company.
ThePapimoa block is likely speedily to be turned to good account, as we learn thab a special settlement, association is being formed in Te Aroha for the purpose of taking up a portion of bhe block suitable for medium-sized holdings. Mr K. L. Jordan was engaged to furnish a report as to the amount of land which will meet the requirements of tho Association, and has just completed bhe task. ' The Association contains 12 members, and thou holdings will probably average 100 acres or so apiece.-" Bay of Plenty Times.
