The annual meeting of members of the Auckland Racing Club will be held on the 7th of August. The members of committeo who rebiro by rotabion are Messrs Buckland, Dnder, Kirkwood, Lanigan, McLaughhn and Nathan. I understand that Mr Lanigan does nob seok re-election, bub Mr A. Clark, brother of Mr J. MoCosh Clark, is to be nominated for office. Whether any " new blood " will oppose tho old committee remains to be seen, bub I hear chab •everal friends of Mr Alfred Kidd have requested him to be allowed to be nominated. The rules require seven days' notice of intention to stand for office of committeeflran. I hear that Despised is to be shipped to 3aristchurch on Monday next in charge of Alick Williams. The Greab Northern Steeplechase hero will have plenty of sup- ■ porters in Auckland for the Grand National ' Steeplechase. St. Hippo has been a regular attendant ab Ellerslie this week, and has been worked in sweaters. No horse oub there is going sounder. Brought to the post fit and well, be must have a splendid chance of repeating lasb year's victory. This year the New Zealand Cup and Melbourne Cup are run on the same day. Tuesday r.exb is the oquino birthday. All liorses in New Zealand and Australia have ono year tacked on to their age. ' The jumper Aorero is now following the hounds.

Fernando haa been withdrawn from the Melbourne Cup. Charles Skirving, a horseman known in Auckland racing circles, and Bon of Mr Jamos Skirving, now in Molbourne, has KMae to South Africa, having accepted a fnc;ative engagement from a wealthy spon.sman. Skirving took Arequebua and Yarran with him, and hopes to win the SohannesNrg Cnp with one of the pair.
