They were almosb unplayable. The Australians went in again at the close of the day, and ran up 134 for the loss of 3 wickets, so thab they bare a lead of 213, with 7 wickots to fall. Lyons made 51; Giffen, 14; Trot., 52, nob oub ; Trumble, 24, nob oub. Lyons hib grandly. One straight drive of his wont clean over the stand, and was the biggesb hib ever seen on bhe ground, Troth and Trumble both scored freely off the rather weak Middlesex bowling. The 144 were pub up in 92 minutes.
