GALES IN THE SOUTH.
(BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.)
Hokitika, this day. A terrific gale from the north-west has been blowing all day, accompanied by heavy rain. Old bouses, brees, fences, ebc, have suffered considerably. The river is rising, and a heavy flood is anticipated, as the rain is warm enough to melfe the snow.
